Third sector organisations still optimistic about the futureJuly 3, 2009 Three out of four third sector organisations remain generally optimistic about their future prospects, according to a survey by Local People Leading. Almost three out of four respondents felt that they had been fairly successful or very successful in progressing their ambitions over the last 12 months. The survey also revealed a number of challenges relating to the changing public sector landscape in Scotland and the accompanying uncertainty, reduction in funding levels, new demands, and resource constraints that are arising for the sector. There were concerns expressed about sector involvement in public decision-making and community planning, and the way in which public service contracts are awarded. There were 73 responses to the "How well does the public sector serve your organisation?" survey, from community groups, voluntary organisations, and social enterprises across Scotland. |
